This next wave of change being imposed by the Treasury "Total Place" it is extroadinary that they really believe savings from 20-30% can be made. It appears to mainly affect services in Health and Health and Social care on both the Adult and the Children's side. Check it out and come join us at the branch on the 1st November 2009 at 2pm where we are putting together a response for the region in terms of a Social Care Seminar, which we hope will shape, challenge and put forward alternative ideas to any proposals that are issued that do not follow UNISON policy.
We need your expertise at grass route practioner level. Don't be a bystander get involved advocate for you and those you offer services to.
Jackie doing her best to keep UNISON members in touch and up todate, the Bristol Branch of UNISON now has a Website and is networking on Facebook. Any views expressed here are my own and not those of my Trade Union, employer or Labour Party.

"Total Place"
At the Local Government Service Group Exec the delegates put the Commissioning Strategy required by Local Authorities high on the agenda for the coming year. This will link with the Million Voices Campaign and the recruitment of all workers involved in delivering services to the public. The Treasury recently announced the need to give public services a shock tactic by introducing pilot schemes across the country called "Total Place". Dorset and Devon have been roped in to roll it out so the Bristol Branch of UNISON will be keeping in touch with our comrades there.
What shocks we will be receiving we will keep you posted, scant details so far is the Treasury expects 30% savings on top of Gershon.

Check it out more concerns around MP's expenses
Paul has put some interesting articles together and it would appear there may yet be more revelations ahead and this time the Lib Dems may be under the spotlight.

If this has truth in it then Paul has done a great job highlighting a different kind of abuse of tax payers money.
